When highlighting queens, entrepreneurs, or public figures on the HBCU blog, I usually reach out to these young ladies ahead of time for an interview. But this week, I wanted to take the time out to surprise my friend, sister, and queen Kennedy Allen!
I have had the pleasure of knowing Kennedy since my freshman year. Our personalities immediately meshed together. It is hard not to be attracted to her bubbly, kind, and welcoming spirit. As time has gone on, I have also known Kennedy to be driven, optimistic, and downright hilarious. In the spring of 2020, Kennedy and I were initiated into the Gamma Rho Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. at our dear ole' college home Jackson State University and we became co-initiates, but more importantly, line sisters.
This year, Kennedy serves as the 2020-2021 Miss Junior. Her platform, " She has done a wonderful job of hosting both virtual and in-person community service opportunities and events despite the circumstances going on in the world. On top of that, she is still involved and active in her other organizations on campus.
You can keep up with Kennedy by following her on Instagram (@kennedy.ranae), on Twitter (@yagirlkenn_), and follow her royal court journey on Instagram (@theejsuroyalcourt)! I can't wait to see what she has in store for the rest of the year!
