This week, I want to spotlight a special beauty. Somebody who I have known since a child, share memories with, and at one point shared a title. Not only is DeJoan Mitchell Miss Junior at Dillard University, but she is also my cousin!
Dejoan and I are first cousins and I am proud to see the young ladies we have both become. She has been apart of queendom 2 years in a row, for as last year she served as Miss Sophomore. Throughout her time, she has put work into community service opportunities, social events, and mental health.
Aside from wearing the crown, DeJoan is a junior English, pre-law major, a DU diamond, a member of the English Club, Sigma Tau Delta, and Dillard's NAACP chapter.
