"Be bold, be beautiful, be you." This is the motto of Brianna Bailey, the 20-year-old owner of Billionaire Beauty. Billionaire Beauty is a black-owned beauty brand that offers handmade self-care items including lip gloss, lip scrub, and lip balms. Despite her business being fairly new, Brianna has built a prominent social media and presence and a loyal customer base. When marketing her products, she promotes the ideology of not necessarily having a billion dollars, but feeling like a billion dollars. She encourages her customers to "increase their self-worth without breaking their net worth". I caught up with the boss lady herself to dig further into "Billionaire Beauty".
You were originally known as BB Cosmetics, what prompted you to decide to do a rebrand shortly after your launch?
I had a name change because I wanted a household name. I feel as if Billionaire Beauty will never grow old. Also, I feel as though when I figure out how to market to older women the name will be likable by them too. I just love the name, it sounds so high class, luxurious.
How does Billionaire Beauty fit into the daily routine of its consumers?
The products I offer can be used from morning to night. Personally, after I complete my morning skincare routine, sometimes makeup, I always apply gloss. No matter what I do, I feel like any gloss is an essential application to enter into the outside world with, even if behind the mask. Think about the girls who are confident with only lashes and or brows along with gloss. ITS A STAPLE TO DAILY CONFIDENCE. For night time, the lip scrubs are great for weekly use. For additional lip care, the new lip balm along with the Lavender Kisses Lip Oil is great, or the Soft Gloss alone is also great because it's not as thick as the regular glosses, therefore, it is comfortable to go to bed in.
Who has been your biggest support system during this journey?
Definitely my mom. The "warehouse" is in the living room! Luckily, we entertain guests mostly in the den so they won't see the works and messiness of a "Mad Scientist" as my Dad likes to call me. I also would not be here without my friends, they are very supportive, always open to answering my question, listen to me vent, and just be here doing this journey of winging it. Last but not least, my supporters, I like them to call them GIRLBOSSES, I love how they are so quick to post their orders immediately after they PICKUP or when they receive it in the mail. I love making other people feel special and that is a way for me to do it for more than the people who are close to me.
Where do you see Billionaire Beauty in 5 years?
Honestly, I don't even know where I see myself in 5 years, but I am not feeling scared about it. I am a Child of God and I will allow him to continue to order my steps. But definitely in an ideal warehouse, needing to employ others, having way more customers out of state, never being done processing orders because, in the future, there are always so many, and it being enough for me to live off of (I'm most definitely not currently doing for the money because there would be no BBCo if that was the case). Don't get me wrong I do have goals for the business, things I want to add on and most importantly ways to give back to more Brown and Black Girls, it's just all with due time and understanding how the Lord wants me to go about it.
